Sometimes I am not so miserable, ’cause I didn’t always have Great Expectations for my dating life. Here’s the scoup, this week I devoured what seemed like a pound of bacon. To ease the pain of loneliness, of course. I pretend to be ashamed about it. Does that tell you anything? Actually, it’s when I honestly considered finding a date in North Dallas.
Nothing that can’t be fixed. I can mix up my social life at a matchmaking service like Great Expectations Dallas. That sounds like a plan. The reason I mention my dating woes: After practically choking down some of grandma’s potato salad at little Brent’s Easter egg hunt at Oak Park last week, Mom asked me if I’ve bumped into the woman I’m going to marry. They sure have nerve. Anyway, I looked up at them and yelled, “that’s none of your business.”
Even “The Twerp” (my nephew, age 9) chimed in about marriage. I said to the family gang: “Hey look, my romantic destiny is right over there!”
How can they be so rude? They all laughed at me. Irritated, I called Dave because the dating pressure was too much. I still have no idea what to do! I can’t imagine what I was thinking there. Doug, who is now a Budist monk or something offered his opinion that I sign up for Great Expectations. I said, “Sure, whatever.” What a relief. I am truly grateful for the Denver Singles Events at Great Expectations.
At the time, dating services were kinda foreign as I am a simple guy. I’d never done anything like this before, so much so that I got a little queasy. A mere emotional anxiety couldn’t pull the plug on us from enjoying ourselves. The evening was bursting with excitement. The truth is I’ll never forget all the attractive, single women.
Appearing at these glorious Dallas singles nights with Great Expectations, I met a collection of dynamite friends that must feel as excited as I am while being in this kind of fun, sophisticated company. Can’t imagine why I used to let anyone get me down about living the bachelor’s life after all these years. Amazingly enough, dating in Dallas with Great Expectations is enjoyable and just what I’ve been looking for.
